The second motor and differential are built into the electrically-powered rear axle, giving the vehicle on-demand all-wheel traction. The front electric motor is connected to an electrified eight-speed automatic transmission.
Electric, hybrid, AWD, and Sport are the four driving modes available on the Grandland X Hybrid4. The vehicle’s range in electric-only mode is 30 kilometers (according to WLTP1). In hybrid mode, the vehicle chooses the most effective form of propulsion on its own. For instance, the system shifts to the electric mode for zero-emission driving when moving slowly through cities.
